$70Raised for a cancer free future |
In 2026, Terrigal Surf Life Saving will once again host The Daffodil Dip as part of the Terrigal Ocean Swim Classic. This uplifting 400-metre ocean dip invites participants of all ages and abilities to step into the water together for a moment of hope and
community spirit.
The daffodil stands as a symbol of hope, and each year the Daffodil Dip transforms Terrigal Beach into a bright “ocean of hope” as every swimmer or “dipper” wears the signature vintage yellow daffodil swim cap. The visual is striking, but the purpose is
even more powerful: raising funds and awareness for Central Coast locals impacted by cancer.
Since launching in 2023, more than 1,000 people have taken part in the Dip, helping raise almost $100,000 for vital cancer support services. In 2026, we expect the event to continue growing as participants swim, paddle, wade or simply dip into the water. This truly is an event for everyone.

Where the money goes:
We want to tackle cancer with all our might! There are things that we can all do every day to help make this happen.
Every year in NSW alone, more than 36,600 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed, and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant. Together with our volunteers, supporters, stakeholders and staff, we are committed to reducing the impact of cancer on individuals and the community, and to lessening the burden for people affected by cancer.
We are the only organisation that works across every area of every cancer:
- conducting and funding world-class research that underpins our work in preventing cancer
- supporting people as they navigate the cancer journey
- advocating to ensure that governments take action on cancer
We are there not only for those touched by cancer today, but to prevent and manage cancer into the future.
Cancer Council NSW is an independent charity and 94% community funded. Our unique combination of local program delivery, community engagement and national influence enables everyone who cares about cancer to make the biggest possible difference.
If you need support, you can call 13 11 20 or visit our office in Erina Fair.

FAQs
Can children participate?
Children who can confidently swim can participate and must pay the same registration fee. Anyone UNDER the age of 10 years old MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT OVER 18 AT ALL TIMES WHEN IN THE WATER. Registration form must be completed and waiver signed by the parent.
Can I purchase a cap only and not do the swim?
Yes, caps are $25 with all proceeds being donated to Cancer Council NSW.
What if I am not a strong swimmer?
The dip is 400 metres with lots of water safety available. Many people wear safety vests if they are less confident, and if you are not a strong swimmer you are still welcome to wade, play and dip in the designated safety area staying clear of swimmers, and still be part of the fun.
I have a cap from last year, do I need to purchase another one?
No if you don’t want another cap, you can opt not to receive one and just pay the $35 registration fee.
Do I have to fundraise?
You will receive a fundraising page as part of your Daffodil Dip registration. You can fundraise if you wish to, but it is not compulsory. Just by participating, your $35 registration fee is donated to Cancer Council NSW – so you’re doing something great!
How can I raise money?
You can fundraise with your friends in the lead up if you wish, or you can share your photos of the day, or a story of why you are doing the Daffodil Dip - on your socials and ask your friends to support you with a donation and share your fundraising link.
Are the prizes for the winner?
The Daffodil Dip is a fun event and is about coming together to show local cancer patients that we are here for them. If you finish first, we will cheer for you and give you a big clap – but the real prize is the amazing ocean of hope we create by coming together with our caps on! If you’re feeling competitive, then the Terrigal Ocean Swim 1km or 2km is for you!
Awards will be issued after the Daffodil Dip for the Highest Fundraiser and Best Outfit!
Event Cancellation
Our biggest priority is for a safe and happy day for everyone involved, so if in the opinion of the Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club, the weather or swimming conditions are dangerous, or present greater risk to participants, the Daffodil Dip may be cancelled without notice.
In the event of cancellation, registrations are not refundable, and will be considered a donation to Cancer Council NSW – Central Coast.
