My target 960mins

31 mins x 31 days

I’m getting active this May to say one thing: F Cancer.

I’ll be getting active for 31 minutes a day for 31 days to raise funds for everyone we know and love impacted by cancer.

Cancer affects almost 1 in 2 Australians by the age of 85. It could be our mums, dads, grandparents, siblings, friends or teammates. When I say F Cancer, it’s personal.

By donating to my challenge, you’ll help fund world-class cancer research, prevention programs, and support services at Cancer Council, to support people affected by cancer before, during and after treatment.

Every step, every workout, every dollar raised helps us say F Cancer louder than words.

Please support my challenge and donate today.

My Journey

Tuesday 21st Apr
Like most of us I have lost loved ones, friends and colleagues to this disease.
My father past in 2020 from bowel cancer, 12 months after diagnosis.

Last year i was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I was terrified of course and staging could not be completed until after extensive surgery. There were a number of indicators of potential risk beyond the original site, so the wait for staging was horrendous.
For me this was not a "silent disease" I was in pain, felt unwell all the tine, had little energy and was haemorrhaging for 2 months.
I hid all of those things as best I could and just did what needed to be done. I had surgery mid January this year, the camcer was contained and I dont require further treatment.
I have most of my energy back and feel generally pretty well.

During this process I found out I have lynch syndrome, which is a genetic disorder that predisposes you to certain cancers.
Due to this detection I will have exceptional surveillance for recurrence, which results in as good or better outcomes than those without the syndrome.

It blows my mind how much cancer knowledge and treatment has progressed and improved over the past 10 years. But this progression  doesnt happen without funds.
The  Cancer Council is the biggest non government funding body for cancer research in this country. They are also active in direct support and practical services to cancer warriors and their families.

If its within your financial capacity please consider a small donation.
