I’m getting active this May to say one thing: F Cancer.

I’ll be getting active for 31 minutes a day for 31 days to raise funds for everyone we know and love impacted by cancer.

Cancer affects almost 1 in 2 Australians by the age of 85. It could be our mums, dads, grandparents, siblings, friends or teammates. When I say F Cancer, it’s personal.

By donating to my challenge, you’ll help fund world-class cancer research, prevention programs, and support services at Cancer Council, to support people affected by cancer before, during and after treatment.

Every step, every workout, every dollar raised helps us say F Cancer louder than words.

My Cancer Journey 24/6/2021 to Now 16/4/26

Thursday 16th Apr
Diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2021. Underwent chemotherapy and immunotherapy, surgery to remove the very tiny remaining vestige of the tumour, declared cancer free Jan 2022. Continued immunotherapy and then, after the discovery that I have the defective BRCA2 gene, I had my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed to prevent increased ovarian cancer risk, then a double mastectomy to prevent increased breast cancer return risk. I’m still at risk of pancreatic (difficult to diagnose) and uterine cancer (easier to diagnose).
Photos are of me putting a completion of treatment thumbprint on the wall of the Mid-North Coast Cancer Institute in Port Macquarie.
Celebrating return to “normality” on a cruise and the worst time during chemo.
But… research helped me to get through and survive and take measures to decrease ongoing risk factors.
So, please donate to help further research to help deal with cancer.
