I’m challenging myself this month to support those who have supported me

This month I am raising funds for those who have been impacted by cancer. A cancer diagnosis doesn’t mean that life immediately stops; it becomes more challenging. It touches every aspect of somebody’s life as they make sacrifices to  go to appointments, have difficult conversations and finance the process. I know this firsthand as a blood cancer survivor. 

Now I’m doing what I can to give back to the community who supported me in my time of need. The Cancer Council was a resource for me to learn more about navigating my treatment plan and side effects, who to call for help, directing me to support networks and communities, and how to approach the piles of medical paperwork. They always returned my calls, listened without judgment, and helped me feel less alone.

To support them back, I’m challenging myself every day this month to raise money for this incredible organisation. By donating to my challenge; you’ll not only be helping people like me at my most vulnerable moments, you’ll also be helping those who are about to start or are going through active treatment, and helping to fund world class cancer research and prevention programs.

At the end of the day, our health is the foundation to everything else in our lives. Having access to the Cancer Council’s support services makes a huge difference to someone’s life.
