Cancer Council is the largest non-government funder of cancer research in the country - and it's because of supporters like you.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have been able to invest almost $250 million in Australian cancer research in the past 5 years alone.
Where do donations go and what's the impact?
All proceeds from donations and fundraising for your Dog Walk for Cancer challenge go to Cancer Council, to help support the almost 1 in 2 Australians impacted by cancer in their lifetime. By joining the challenge you’ll fund world-class cancer research, prevention and support.
How donations help people impacted by cancer:
$50 → helps pay for innovative equipment and technology needed to develop life-saving cancer treatments
$150 → pays for the collection and ongoing storage of a tumour sample used in studies to improve the way we prevent and detect cancer
$500 → could support a clinical trial to test new cancer treatments, ensuring the best treatments are available to those who need them most
Graham's story:
Hope and Resilence
After losing my first wife, Heather, to cancer 17 years ago, I never expected to face the disease again. But when Wendy, my second wife, was diagnosed with stage four multiple myeloma at 71.
A year after her stem cell transplant, Wendy is in remission, and we’re thankful every day for the advancements in cancer treatment. That’s why, when my dog Mary and I walked to raise funds for cancer research, we felt proud to be part of something that makes a real difference.
Join us this June for the Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer. Every walk, every dollar raised, supports life-saving research and services for those affected by cancer. Let’s walk, wag, and tackle cancer together—because it’s all of us against cancer.
Cancer Council acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We pay our respects to the elders past and present and extend that respect to all other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Cancer Council NSW is registered with the Australian Taxation Office as an Income tax Exempt Charity. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
