Thank you, Alison Megarrity. The Member for Menai for 12 years, Alison Megarrity cared deeply about her electorate (now known as Holsworthy). She served her constituents “without fear or favour” and was passionate about making sure southwest Sydney got the infrastructure it needed, including the Heathcote Road Upgrade. Alison passed away from cancer on 15 November 2022.
Join us for the bridge walk along Heathcote Road to remember Alison and raise funds for Cancer Council NSW.

Start time: 9.30am-10.15am
Location: Hammondville Oval, 230 Heathcote Road, Hammondville 2170 NSW
Meet at Hammondville Oval (next to Sporties). Parking available on site.
Catch the shuttle bus that will run every 10 minutes, starting at 9.30am transporting walkers down the eastern end where the walk begins at Aunty Leanne Watson’s giant dingo artwork. The last bus will leave at 10.15am.
The walk will be an easy 2km and will take about 45 minutes.
You will start at Aunty Leanne Watson’s giant dingo artwork, before continuing across three (of the five) new bridges where you can stop to look at the military artwork. Walkers will then finish at the western end at the new Harris Creek bridge, where you can observe the new memorial garden and viewing platform overlooking the original Heritage-listed military rail bridge built by internees of a WW1-era concentration camp.
Walking marshals will have water on hand and guide you all the way back to Harris Creek bridge where the official ceremonies will take place.
Prams, wheelchairs and kids’ bikes are welcome to take on the bus.

How it Works

Register to walk with the community and view the features of your new Heathcote Road while helping to raise valuable funds for cancer. Meet at Hammondville Oval (next to Sporties). Parking available on site. The walk will be an easy 2km and will take about 45 minutes.2.
Catch the shuttle bus to Aunty Leanne Watson’s giant dingo artwork. Shuttle buses will run every 10 minutes, starting at 9.30am. The last bus will leave at 10.15am.
Prams, wheelchairs and kids’ bikes are welcome to take on the bus.

The walk will take you across three (of the five) new bridges where you can view the artworks and the original Heritage-listed military rail bridge. The official ceremonies will take place at the new Harris Creek Bridge.
