Why I am Walking For Cancer
Hello! My dog, Ozzie, and I are participating in the Cancer Council's 50km Dog Walk for Cancer.
Cancer is something that can affect anyone. According to Cancer Council Australia, almost one in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85. That is scary to think about, because it means cancer will likely affect many of us directly, or someone we love.
My fundraising will go towards Cancer Council, an Australian cancer charity, who not only work towards research and prevention by supporting people battling cancer. Cancer Council can provide financial support by helping people set up government payment programs and lowering travel costs for people and their families. This is especially important for people living in rural areas of Australia, like Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, where access to cancer specialists can be more difficult.
The Cancer Council also provides services such as easy-to-access resources and information, wig services to help boost confidence, and community support to connect people living or recovering from cancer.
No one should have to battle cancer alone or without support. Any donation made will go towards these important services.
Cancer Council acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We pay our respects to the elders past and present and extend that respect to all other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Cancer Council NSW is registered with the Australian Taxation Office as an Income tax Exempt Charity. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
