Dog Walk for Cancer 2026

My Activity Tracking

52
kms

My target 50kms

Please sup-pawt Ruben and I

This June, my dog is leading the way as we take on Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge.

Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, so every step we take will help change that. With every wag, walkies and sniff stop, we're putting one paw in front of the other for a cause that matters.

Every kilometre my pup and I walk is for everyone who has heard, or will hear, the words ā€œyou have cancerā€. And every dollar we raise together will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and essential support services for people impacted by cancer.

If you can, please donate to keep our paws moving and help tackle cancer alongside us. Because it’s all of us, humans and pups, in this together.

My Updates

WE'VE WALKED OVER 50KM!

Tuesday 30th Jun
Yesterday Ruben and I went out and got rained on 3 times, thankfully both wearing rain jackets :-)
We did 3km to get us up to 52.5km I believe.

Another Day closer to our target :-)

Friday 19th Jun
A shorter walk due to time constraints this morning but still close to 3km. Walked to the local oval for some off leash running and sniffing before a brisk walk home to be back in time for my kids cross country run at school. This boy loves sleeping when home!

Local Bush Wildflower Walk Today

Thursday 18th Jun
Today we walked through our lovely local Bushland. There were a small number of flowers out :-)

Late morning walk today 4.3km

Wednesday 17th Jun
Today we walked to our local oval, picked up 3 other dog's excrement that owners had failed to collect, so Ruben got confused going back and forth to the bin before finally continuing our walk! I wish all owners would pick up after their own dogs!
It was lovely weather mid-morning though for our walk :-)Ā
I forgot to take a photo on the walk so here he is asleep next to me as I write this :-)

Monday 15th Cold but avoided the rain!

Monday 15th Jun
Today we walked at 9am, after the morning's rain. It was definitely brisk. Clocked 4km again. That is our daily aim to try and keep up with our goal of 50km by the end of the month, accounting for days we can't walk.

Day 12 Walking in the rain!!

Friday 12th Jun
I wasn't expecting rain today, rugged up, went outside, light raining! Straight back in to put Ruben's rain jacket on instead of jumper and off we went! Rainbows, sheltering under trees and a very soggy-legged puppy on arrival home :-)

Tuesday & Wed Update

Wednesday 10th Jun
Yesterday we had a short 1.9km walk with the hint of a rainbow in grey skies, today we made up for it with 4.5km walks with Ruben’s doggy cousin before they shared a small bed :-)

Monday's walk

Monday 8th Jun
Did a walk via school, to the chemist, then through our amazing local bush. 4km to add to our tally after a weekend off but filled with family commitments

Day 4 4/6/25 Bunnings trip!

Thursday 4th Jun
We walked to Bunnings today as needed some no more gaps and I’m currently not driving after wrist surgery. Pup is now passed out asleep

Post-storm walking

Wednesday 3rd Jun
Ruben likes to sniff and pee on everything!

Day 1 walk 1/6/26

Monday 1st Jun
We walked to my sisters via the park, then home again - dressed for rain on the way there and hopeful of none on the way home!

Ready for 1st June tomorrow!

Sunday 31st May
Ruben's bandana to raise awareness courtesy of a kind participant near me who cut hers in half to share. Thank you Rachel
