Dog Walk for Cancer 2026

Please sup-pawt me

This June, my dog is leading the way as we take on Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge.

Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, so every step we take will help change that. With every wag, walkies and sniff stop, we're putting one paw in front of the other for a cause that matters.

Every kilometre my pup and I walk is for everyone who has heard, or will hear, the words ā€œyou have cancerā€. And every dollar we raise together will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and essential support services for people impacted by cancer.

If you can, please donate to keep our paws moving and help tackle cancer alongside us. Because it’s all of us, humans and pups, in this together.

My Updates

My life my children

Sunday 28th Jun

My name is Evelyn and story is the inspiration that I receive from my family and my grandchildren. I have 6 grandchildren which I love all equally and do anything for them.

My cancer story started many years ago when family members had cancer and I didn’t understand what cancer was back then. Some family fault it some let the cancer rule them and died earlier than they needed.Ā  They in 1981 I thought I had cancer but I was told it wasĀ  benign then in 2015 they suspected cancer again and it was deigned. Then in 2017 I was told I had cancer which I then was surprised and it was stage 2 aggressive.Ā  It was at the back of my breast on my chest wall, I was told not to worry that they could remove it and I was on a hormone tablet for 5yrs as I entered into a trial, but I was tested yearly and was in remission for the whole time I was in the trial but my cancer had attached to my chest walls and was growing slowly and it was one of my very strong minded grandbabies accidentally gave me aĀ  head bud, now I was sick bed ridden from 2022 to 2024 with no answers to why I was so sick, all the tests where unconscludive my head-bud happened in early 2025 and my teeth went numb then my eye swelled up so ji saw my GP and sent me for an X-Ray for my teeth and face so a CT scan was preformed and found breast cancer in my upper face area then I had byosites and other tests to only be told I had stage 4 terminal breast and bone cancer.Ā  I am in palliative care medication pain meds that I use sparingly as I want to drive my grandkids around and be in the present with them for now.Ā  I was asked by one doctor I see how long do I think I would live for I said how long is a ball of wool.Ā  I will continue to live and do what I need to do and have fun with my friends and family as long as I can.Ā  So being diagnosed with cancer never means death straight away it means we need to assess our lives and make each moment count.Ā  So I am doing this 50km walk with my beloved Daisy to help raise money to help my next lot of generations live through cancer and detect it earlier and understand the symptoms that people are having.Ā  So I hope I will be remembered for helping and why and for all the happiness, joy and love I bring to my friends, my children and my grandchildren.Ā  When I pass that my 2 grandchildren that we lost will be there and help carry me through my next journey.Ā  This is my story as well as I can say it and as short lol.

Daisy and I thank you for reading and listening to our story.Ā  Daisy also had stage 2 breast cancer and had a huge operation to remove hers and are had to have an ultrasound yearly to ensure she is still clear.

God bless you all love fromĀ
