F Cancer Fitness Challenge

My Activity Tracking

320
mins

My target 960mins

31 mins x 31 days

I’m getting active this May to say one thing: F Cancer.

I’ll be getting active for 31 minutes a day for 31 days to raise funds for everyone we know and love impacted by cancer.

Cancer affects almost 1 in 2 Australians by the age of 85. It could be our mums, dads, grandparents, siblings, friends or teammates. When I say F Cancer, it’s personal.

By donating to my challenge, you’ll help fund world-class cancer research, prevention programs, and support services at Cancer Council, to support people affected by cancer before, during and after treatment.

Every step, every workout, every dollar raised helps us say F Cancer louder than words.

Please support my challenge and donate today.

My Updates

I am not an active person

Tuesday 21st Apr
This may or may not come as a surprise to you but I am not an active person. I'm the kind of person who prefers to circle a carpark 10 times to find the closest spot.

The longest I've committed to going to the gym was for about 2 months in 2013 and then I stopped when I stacked it in a Steps class and broke my foot. My friend Jo had to piggyback me through Target to get to a medical centre. A few years later I tried a Pump class once with my friend (hi Maddy) and was mortified that we had to use weights, so I just did the whole class with the bar instead with no weights. I still had to leave half way through the class from over exertion and vomited in the change rooms and then cried for an hour afterwards.

31 minutes is probably nothing for most people but it will require quite a lot of motivation and discipline from me. Both of which I am infamously known to have very, verrry little of.

But. For Ben and for cancer, 31 minutes is nothing. 31 mins is nothing compared to the hours sitting in a chair connected to a pump. It's nothing compared to being manipulated in all different weird contortions daily just so they can zap you with radiotherapy at just the right spot, every day. Until your skin breaks from repeated exposure. It's nothing compared to having to tell your children about cancer and that yes, your friend from school's grandpa died from it but let's pray that daddy doesn't.

Our story is just one of many. We're not particularly special in any way. We have been beyond blessed by the people in our circles. So thank you for supporting this cause. Really, thank you.
