Jimmy & Jane's June Walk for Cancer

This June, Jimmy & I are taking on Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge.

In May 2022 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer and after treatment have been blessed that to date,  it has not returned.

Sadly in March 2025 a close friend of mine passed away from breast cancer, 1 week after her 55th birthday. I know of 2 others currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Every kilometre Jimmy and I walk is for everyone who has heard, or will hear, the words “you have cancer”. And every dollar we raise together will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and essential support services for people impacted by cancer.

As this is the first time Jimmy & I have participated, we have set a modest target for distance & fundraising. If either or both exceed the target, then Jimmy & I will have benefitted from the exercise & Cancer Council from the financial reward.

If you can, please donate to keep our paws moving and help tackle cancer alongside us, however, DO NOT feel obligated as I know many are finding everyday costs difficult and/or you may have your own charities you support.

Kindest regards, Jimmy  🐶 🐾 & Jane ❤️

My Updates

Lunchtime Rush

Tuesday 30th Jun
Yap, this was our Lunchtime Rush walk for today! I'm home, out of the rain and snuggled in my bed. Signing off: Jimmy 🌧️ 🐶 🐾 ♥️♥️

Lunchtime Rush

Tuesday 30th Jun
Our final walk for the DOG WALK FOR CANCER June fundraiser. It has rained all night, all morning and rain forecast for the rest of the day, so mum and I put on the raincoats and made a Lunchtime Dash around the block. I wasn't impressed, but mum insisted we finish the month with a walk no matter how wet. She dried me off when we got home and now, I'm staying indoors for the rest of the day. A BIG thankyou to everyone who has supported us with this fundraiser throughout the month of June and to all those who are supporting Cancer Council through various other avenues and fundraising. Lots of ♥️♥️♥️♥️ from Jimmy and Jane

A beautiful walk in the sun today.

West Tamar Wander

Saturday 27th Jun
Today we commenced our walk at the Tailrace Park and then did a loop of the West Tamar Fitness Trail/Track. Awesome walk with lots of birds to see and even spotted a little wallaby. This photo is taken on one of the viewing platforms located along the track.

Westbury Walkabout

Friday 26th Jun
Somewhere a little different today. Mum and I headed to Westbury for a nice walk in the winter sunshine, passing the Giant Westbury Cricket Wickets, before heading to the Westbury Town Common for a nice walk in this park area. We stopped in at Little Marney's Gifts and Garden ware on the way home. Terrific place to call into if you're out that way. Not long now 'til the end of June, & end of financial year, so please hop onto the site and donate to our walk if you can. Thanks, Jimmy 🐶 🐾 and Jane ♥️

Across the River

Thursday 25th Jun
Today's walk across the river and back

Across the River

Thursday 25th Jun
King of the Tree Stump!

Across the River

Thursday 25th Jun
Mum and I ventured across the river today. Mark Knopfler from the band Dire Straits sang "Gonna ride across the river deep and wide Ride across the river to the other side" back in 1985 and while we didn't RIDE, we certainly went for a walk across the bridge over the river to the other side, with mum even having to pick me up at one stage as it was a bit high and scary. When we got back to OUR side of the river, mum took this photo of me sitting on a huge tree stump which I usually have a good sniff around the base of it. King of the Stump I reckon WOOF WOOF.

Doggy Play Date

Wednesday 24th Jun
A similar walk to yesterdays but we stopped for a bit of play time with my furry friends and then a quick drink and paddle at the boat ramp.

Doggy Play Date

Wednesday 24th Jun
So, this afternoon we did a similar walk to yesterday but 4 of my friends were at the dog park so we stopped for a chat with my friends and their owners and had a good game of chasies with my furry friends. On the walk back home we stopped at the boat ramp where I had a much needed drink and a paddle. Love Jimmy 🐶 🐾

A Walk to the Dog Park

Tuesday 23rd Jun

It was a beautiful, sun-shiny winters day today, so mum and I headed out to the township of Carrick. A great walk but could feel the iciness in the air YAP YAP. I reckon there might be some snow around somewhere after the week of rain.

A New Area to Walk

Friday 19th Jun
The new area where we walked today. The area itself is not new, but new to us for walking.

A New Area to Walk

Friday 19th Jun
The weather this morning was beautiful & although I didn't know where we were going, mum had organised a HUGE walk for us. We jumped in the car, drove to the other side of town, parked at where we were to begin, then oh dear, 🙄 🤷 🤦, mum had forgotten her phone to register our walk. So, she still took me for a nice big walk, then after returning home we headed up to another area, WITH THE PHONE this time. Lucky, as not long after we finished walking, the rain started again. Mum didn't have to ask me to sit for this pic as I was so tired when we got back to the car, all I wanted was a snack and drink.

Don't Your Go Out In The Rain! 🌧️ 🎼 🎧📻 ☂️

Thursday 18th Jun
2 Block Dash in the Rain Today.

Don't Your Go Out In The Rain! 🌧️ 🎼 🎧📻 ☂️

Thursday 18th Jun
Was it ever going to stop raining today? NO! I watched out the window for most of the day hoping the rain would ease, but it didn't, so at 4.30pm we grabbed the raincoats and headed out for a 2 block dash! "DRAGON'S" song from about 1983 seems to sum up today's weather. YOU-TUBE the song and enjoy. [Verse 2] Oh is it any wonder, the streets are dark Is it any wonder, we fall apart Day after day strange rain falls down All over town, rain come [Refrain] Oh, it's been raining for so long It's been raining for so long [Chorus] Don't you go out in the rain Don't go out in pouring rain If you go out in the rain We'll never have that time again (Stay Warm Everyone)

Leafy Glenmore

Wednesday 17th Jun
Today's walk took us through the lush and leafy Glenmore Estate. Some new and interesting smells along this way.

Another Break in the Weather

Tuesday 16th Jun
Another rainy day & I spent a lot of time curled up in bed wondering if we would get out for a walk today. 4pm brought some reprieve, so on went the jackets and out we went. Everybody and their dog(s) must have had the same idea, getting out for a walk while the rain had stopped. Anyhow, this is where we went walking today. Good things to smell after rain has fallen.

Another Break in the Weather

Tuesday 16th Jun
Further to June 13th, it was another rainy day & I spent a lot of time curled up in bed wondering if we would get out for a walk today. 4pm brought some reprieve, so on went the jackets and out we went. Everybody and their dog(s) must have had the same idea, getting out for a walk while the rain had stopped. A reasonable walk today, passing the playground and community garden. Back indoors now where it's warm and waiting for mum to get my dinner. (photo of me at the community garden)

Nothing Exciting Walk

Monday 15th Jun
No photo of me today (Jimmy) as we didn't really go on an exciting walk today. The GPS on mum's phone went "cactus" and registered a straight line to our destination, but then fixed itself on the way home, so mum has manually adjusted the walk (see the purple line) TO our destination and the squiggly orange line is the walk back. Hope this make good doggy sense!

What a View!

Sunday 14th Jun
Today we ventured to the other side of town 🤣😅😂. A beautiful day for walking and a terrific view across to Quamby Bluff & the Western Tiers from the top of the hill.

Sunday 14th Jun
Today we ventured to the other side of town 🤣😅😂. A beautiful day for walking and a terrific view across to Quamby Bluff & the Western Tiers from the top of the hill. We walked home via the off-leash area, so I got to play with a couple of new friends there.

A Break in the Weather

Saturday 13th Jun
Todays walk while there was a Break in the Weather.

A Break in the Weather

Saturday 13th Jun
It was a wild, woolly, wet & windy day today, but a break in the weather gave mum and me the opportunity to get out for a quick walk , stopping by for a look at the Uniting Church,(formerly the Wesleyan Chapel) which opened in 1874.

4km Circuit

Friday 12th Jun
A good walk today .

Thursday 11th Jun
Todays' adventure. ♥️ 🐾🐾

Pitcher Parade Track

Thursday 11th Jun
Today mum and I went semi - bush! Plenty of stops along the way to check out the ducks, and other birds, have a sniff & visit the off- leash area also for a run round with new friends. We were enjoying the sunshine and environment so much that mum didn't take any pics of me! As I was so muddy, I had a nice warm bath when we got home & I've posted a pic of my bedraggled little self. Woof! Woof!

Wild and Windy Walk

Wednesday 10th Jun
A quick walk today along the river where there are plenty of good smells. Weather is pretty wild and windy today with rain forecast, so mum thought we'd better get a walk in while it was at least dry. The rain 🌧️ has just started quite heavily as mum is logging this walk.

Afternoon Walk

Tuesday 9th Jun
Today's walk with mum. 🐶 🐾

Afternoon Walk

Tuesday 9th Jun
A nice day for a walk, going past our local fire station which I support. Every time mum and I walk past, I check the shrubs and grass and give them a watering 😆😂😅 Here I am trying to give my "bestus" smile.

Jimmy3blox

Monday 8th Jun
Due to unforeseen circumstances, mum and I couldn't do a walk throughout the day, so had to make do with a 3-block dash in the dark! Mum donned her pink hi-vis vest and off we went doing the 3 block circuit we walk when its wet weather or lack of time to walk a longer distance. As it was dark, there's no photo of my gorgeous self today, only the circuit. Ciao baby!

Milk Run

Sunday 7th Jun
Our dash to the shop as mum had run out of milk for my Puppacino 🐶 ☕ 🐾.

Sunny With A Chance of Frost ❄️

Friday 5th Jun
Ah, woof, woof, here's the nitty gritty of todays walk. Don't know why it didn't appear on the last update? Hooman error I guess? 🐶 🐕 🤣🐶 🐕 🤣

Sunny With A Chance of Frost ❄️

Friday 5th Jun
This looks like the walk mum and I did today, with a stop on the way to pick grandads newspaper up for him from the local shop.

Sunny With A Chance of Frost ❄️

Friday 5th Jun
Sunshine this morning, but Jack (Not Jimmy) Frost had been out and about, so mum put on my turtleneck sweater for a walk to my grandparents for a morning cuppa. My gran knitted my jumper for me not long after mum adopted me.

Yap Yap 🐶 Longford Lap 🐾

Thursday 4th Jun
Yap, and this was the lap! I'm now home, have had dinner and having a snooze after all that fresh country air! Love and Licks from Jimmy.

Yap Yap 🐶 Longford Lap 🐾

Thursday 4th Jun
Yap Yap we did the Lap and got the chequered flag (the final corner as we passed the Longford Country Club Hotel)

Yap Yap 🐶 Longford Lap 🐾

Thursday 4th Jun
New columns on the railway bridge. Mum stopped to look at this sign, but I wanted to keep going as there were good things to sniff!

Yap Yap 🐶 Longford Lap 🐾

Thursday 4th Jun
Just a few more pics to keep it interesting. Moi, with the wind in my fur at Mill Pond Dam, Longford.

Yap Yap 🐶 Longford Lap 🐾

Thursday 4th Jun
Yap Yap 🐶 Longford Lap 🐾 The rain stopped; the sun came out but boy the wind was cold! Mum rugged up in a beanie and puffer jacket, but I wanted to feel the wind through my fur as we headed to Longford for a nice river walk. Plenty of good smells out there. Woof! Woof! This is me at the Longford boat ramp where we parked to start our walk.

A Little Bit Further Today

Wednesday 3rd Jun
I always like to stop and have a sniff outside the Red Feather Inn, especially the pencil pines. See, my curls have flattened with the rain!

A Little Bit Further Today

Wednesday 3rd Jun
The rain had stopped so mum and I got out and pounded the pavement for today. Rain started as we neared the Red Feather Inn, so I got a bit damp and my curls flattened. Towel dry when home and a morning snack.

6 Block Circuit

Tuesday 2nd Jun
A quick walk in the rain today.

6 Block Circuit

Tuesday 2nd Jun
Only a quick walk today due to the rain. Raincoats on and off we went. Mum gave me a good towel dry when we got home and a Mighty Munch treat.
