Samuel and I will be participating in the Dog Walk for Cancer Challenge 2026. 🐾
Less than 12 months ago, I was diagnosed with Stage 2B Unfavourable Hodgkin Lymphoma after doctors discovered an 18cm tumour growing around my heart, shifting it within my chest. Since then, life has looked very different — filled with 9 months of chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and now the anxious wait for my final PET and CT scan results to determine whether I’m officially in remission or facing more treatment ahead.
Through every stage of this journey, running became my constant.
While my body was fighting cancer, running gave my mind something else to fight for. Every day I laced up my shoes, I was reminding myself that I was still here, still moving forward, still capable of more than cancer wanted me to believe. Some days it was slow, some days it hurt, but every kilometre became proof that I could keep going.
Running gave me purpose on the hardest days, especially during the months I spent away from family and friends while undergoing treatment. Chasing new PBs, fresh air, and movement helped me focus on strength instead of fear.
I’m not encouraging anyone to ignore medical advice, but for me, movement became part of survival — mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Now, taking on this new challenge with Samuel feels incredibly special. It’s a celebration of resilience, recovery, and everything this journey has taught me about appreciating the simple ability to move, breathe, and keep showing up each day.
If this experience has taught me anything, it’s that even in the hardest seasons, there is still joy to be found — sometimes one run, one walk, and one step at a time. ❤️
