This June, Maverick and I are taking on Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge in honour of my nan, who we lost to bowel cancer in 2021.
My nan played such a huge role in my life and in the lives of so many around her. Losing her was heartbreaking, and not a day goes by where she isn’t missed. Taking part in this challenge is my way of keeping her memory with us while supporting a cause that means so much to me and my family.
Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, and sadly our family knows firsthand how devastating that reality can be. Every walk Maverick and I take throughout June is for the people currently fighting cancer, for the families grieving loved ones, and for everyone who has heard the words “you have cancer.”
Every dollar raised will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs, and support services for Australians impacted by cancer.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean so much to us. Thank you for helping Maverick and I walk in memory of my nan and support a future with less cancer and more hope.
Cancer Council acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We pay our respects to the elders past and present and extend that respect to all other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
