In loving memory of my beautiful Nanna, this month of June my little Lovebug and I will be partaking in the walk for cancer challengeπ©·
Last year January 2025, we were given the devastating news that our Nanna had potential cancer after noticing her health was not looking right. After numerous tests and visits, they suspect she had Cholangiocarcinoma - A rare but aggressive cancer formed in the bile duct in her liver. News shook our whole family, but knew we had to keep strong for Nanna, especially Paπ₯Ί
By March the cancer has aggressively spread so quickly and she had entered stage 4, all within just over 2 months of the first visit. At that moment we knew we had to make the most of the unknown time we had left with her.Β
13th December 2025, Nanna slept away peacefully with her loved ones around her after putting up a very strong (very stubbornπ) fightπποΈ
Cancer isnβt something anyone thinks theyβll ever experience. An experience we definitely didnβt think weβll ever have to go through. An experience that almost felt kind of like a blessing to be able to have that time to make our memories to do everything she wanted and say goodbye but at the same time feeling like a curse to everyday watching her slowly fading away and feeling helpless to the pain she had to go through.Β
Nanna was a very loud, strong, independent, fierce and confident woman. Cancer took that away from her, she slowly became very quiet and unable to show and control her emotions and not want to do anything.Β
From our loud Nanna, in the kitchen, cleaning as we would walk into the house or always at bingo, it became the norm to walk in and she would be at the back in her room sleeping most of the day.Β
Rugby games you would always know Nanna was there, now theyβre almost quiet missing our main supporter lady.Β
As I share our experience and take part in this monthβs walk to acknowledge our Nannaβs strong fight in this horrible disease. I ask for anyoneβs support for anything big or small to help cancer research and treatment to help support families going through what our family had to sadly go through & to help researchers find help to fight these horrible diseases.
In the most loving memory of our darling Nanna Liliele TofaeπΒ
I love & miss you so so much Nanna xx
