This is more important to me this week than ever before as we lost my aunty this week to aggressive leukaemia, and for the last two years my amazing mum and another of my closest very dear friends have been battling cancer and undergoing treatment. The Cancer Council have been a priceless help and support for them, and funding for cancer research to continually seek improving treatments to conquer this awful thing is vital.
Although our wee pup, Maysie, is still recovering from surgery following a diagnosis of Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease and my own physical ability for walking long distances is impeded by a trapped nerve in my lumbar spine, together, along with my husband, David, we are going give our best shot to walk 50kms this June to raise money that will go towards invaluable cancer research, treatment, and support systems for people fighting cancer and their loved ones.
Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, so every step we take will help change that. With every wag, walkies and sniff stop, we're putting one paw in front of the other for a cause that matters.
Every kilometre we and my pup walk is for everyone who has heard, or will hear, the words “you have cancer”. And every dollar we raise together will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and essential support services for people impacted by cancer.
If you can, please donate to keep our paws moving and help tackle cancer alongside us. Because it’s all of us, humans and pups, in this together.
