This June, my dog Ember is leading the way as we take on Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge.

Every year I try to do some form of fundraising for cancer and this year I am doing it with the Cancer Council.

In October 2017 I lost my dad to stage 4 brain cancer at 56 years old, and in July 2024 I lost my mum to stage 4 breast cancer, also at 56 years old.

This devastating loss has left a huge hole in the hearts of my sister and I, and every day I wish there was something more that could be done to eradicate cancer altogether.

Unfortunately, at the moment there is no cure - for either of the cancers my parent's died from, and the only way to ensure families don't go through what we did, where children don't lose their parents, is by funding.

If you cant donate, that is okay, I am just grateful you read this far.

♡

Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, so every step we take will help change that. With every wag, walkies and sniff stop, we're putting one paw in front of the other for a cause that matters.

Every kilometre my pup and I walk is for everyone who has heard, or will hear, the words “you have cancer”. And every dollar we raise together will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and essential support services for people impacted by cancer.

If you can, please donate to keep our paws moving and help tackle cancer alongside us. Because it’s all of us, humans and pups, in this together.
