Dog Walk for Cancer 2026

My Activity Tracking

42
kms

My target 50kms

Please sup-pawt me

This June, my dog is leading the way as we take on Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge.

Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, so every step we take will help change that. With every wag, walkies and sniff stop, we're putting one paw in front of the other for a cause that matters.

Every kilometre my pup and I walk is for everyone who has heard, or will hear, the words “you have cancer”. And every dollar we raise together will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and essential support services for people impacted by cancer.

If you can, please donate to keep our paws moving and help tackle cancer alongside us. Because it’s all of us, humans and pups, in this together.

My Updates

Play time

Friday 12th Jun
Yep we are passing by the Bungendore Bowls playground on our walk today.  After a shift at the op shop sorting donations it was a short but pleasant walk around the town.

sunset

Thursday 11th Jun
As the sun is setting over our street we took Biscuit and Barley for a quick walk.

Warblers

Wednesday 10th Jun
Barley and I hit the streets after bowls today. Was taking a photo of our gorgeous railway station at Bungendore when two warblers flew in.  Barley was not happy when she realised they were moving in on her territory.

Drizzle

Tuesday 9th Jun
Well we set out this morning sun shining washing on the line.  Just after this photo the rain came...quick walk home and bring the washing inside to dry.

Now brilliant sun shine so time to mow the lawn.  Image is of the St Phillips Anglican Church next to the op shop I volunteer at.  Beautiful building.

Sunny days

Monday 8th Jun
Another sunny day and Barley enjoyed walking along the Turallo Creek at the back of the bowlo.  Said hi to Xanthe at X Gallery a brilliant jeweller and hell of a nice person. She made our wedding rings - which we cherish and adore.

Sun shine

Sunday 7th Jun
Although fresh it is sunny so a walk thru Spooks Hill and up over the railway line was pleasant.  Biscuit took the shorter route under the railway line. Barley was not rapt with the separation but enjoyed the extra sniffing.

Home

Saturday 6th Jun
Biscuit and Barley enjoyed a short walk into town for their humans to enjoy some hot chips (and coffee for Deb).  Arriving home is the best because you get what treats are left.  Gorgeous sunny day in Bungendore for the start of the long weekend.  Lots of people and dogs in town.

All worn out

Friday 5th Jun
Today Barley and I walked around Spooks Hill and the town, A picture paints a 1000 words!!

2 dogs

Thursday 4th Jun
Ready to walk and the sun is out.  Rugged up as it's 8 degrees with a wind chill factor of VERY COLD we set out for a walk around the ponds.  Shortened our walk as Biscuit was tiring.

Biscuit joins us

Wednesday 3rd Jun
Biscuit is our 11 year old Hungarian Vizsla.  She joined us after we lost Anzac our 6 year old (Vizsla cross Lab).  Barley adores and annoys Biscuit.  So in honour of the older dog and due to the shocking wind we did a short walk today.

Yep it's raining

Tuesday 2nd Jun
Second day and it's winter....great to have the rain so no complaints.  Barley and I rugged up and stepped out our daily walk for the cancer council.  If you have some cash to share let me put it towards this great cause and acknowledge your contribution.

We stopped for a break at Phil's Emporium op shop - all the volunteers on a Tuesday were inside enjoying stories and cake!!  I obviously volunteer on the wrong day!! Great op shop by the way unbiased as I am.

Photo time

Monday 1st Jun
Barley was keen to go for walkies but not so fussed about sitting still for the photo.  Yes she sat but not for long with all the cockies in the background.  Sun was shining today as we embarked on our walk.

Thank you to everyone who has donated via us and others to the cancer council.  Great cause and helps so many.

cheers
Leigh and Barley

Hitting the streets of Bungendore

Sunday 31st May
Barley is a 2 year old Hungarian Vizsla - yes very active. So I decided to help the cancer council raise funds while making the two of us exercise daily.  Losing family and friends to cancer is tough and if we can help raise money for the council council to support others let's do it.

If you have some spare coffee or cake money you would like to donate thank you.
