This June, my dog is leading the way as we take on Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge.

Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, so every step we take will help change that. With every wag, walkies and sniff stop, we're putting one paw in front of the other for a cause that matters.

Every kilometre my pup and I walk is for everyone who has heard, or will hear, the words “you have cancer”. And every dollar we raise together will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and essential support services for people impacted by cancer.

Walking with Bruce – What Was I Thinking 🤔

Sunday 3rd May
So… Bruce and I have signed up to walk in June to raise money for the Cancer Council.
At the time, it sounded like a great idea. Fresh air, a few casual walks, do something good… easy.
What I didn’t factor in… is that I’m working most of June.
And not just normal hours, i start at 4:30am !!!!

Which means these “nice walks” are now looking like:
Pre-4:30am walks (yes… before that time even exists)
Lunchtime walks in the middle of the heat
Late-night walks after a full shift when I should definitely be horizontal
Bruce, meanwhile, thinks this is the best decision I’ve ever made. More walks? More smells? He’s absolutely thriving.

Me? I’ll be out there in the dark questioning every life choice that led me here.
But in all seriousness, it’s for a bloody good cause, and if there’s one thing that’ll drag me out of bed at stupid o’clock, it’s knowing people are backing us.
So if you can chip in, even a few dollars, it would mean a lot. Every bit helps and gives me one less excuse to hit snooze (not that snooze even exists at 3:30am…)

Also… just quietly, as you can see on our donation page… Jennifer and Ian have set the bar ridiculously high, so now there’s a bit of pride on the line too.
