This June, my dog is leading the way as we take on Cancer Councilā€™s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge.

Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, so every step we take will help change that. With every wag, walkies and sniff stop, we're putting one paw in front of the other for a cause that matters.

Every kilometre my pup and I walk is for everyone who has heard, or will hear, the words ā€œyou have cancerā€. And every dollar we raise together will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and essential support services for people impacted by cancer.

There is just one week left, and itā€™s not too late to contribute to this incredible cause.

23 days ago, I embarked on a journey called "Dog Walk for Cancer," which has been a humbling experience both mentally and physically. Waking up early in the morning, braving the cold to walk my fur babies before starting my day, has been mentally challenging but incredibly rewarding. It has also helped keep both me and my furry companions fitā€”especially after I had to stop all physical activity for over six months due to an injury in my left foot caused by wearing the wrong shoes all day. Note to self: always wear out new shoes first! šŸ˜‚ That setback temporarily slowed my momentum, but Iā€™m taking it one day at a time for a cause that means so much.

I am walking to raise awareness and support to beat all types of cancerā€”for both humans even our furry friends.

The funds raised go toward providing access to essential care and support services throughout the cancer journey. They also support life-saving cancer research and prevention programs, bringing us closer to breakthroughs in cancer detection, treatment, and care.

Walk For Cancer

This June, my fur babies and I will embark on a 50km walk to raise money for cancer awareness and support. Itā€™s been a while since Iā€™ve actively done something for a cause myself instead of simply donating to friends' and familyā€™s campaigns. This time, I want to make a personal contribution to help those whose lives have been deeply affected or even lost to cancer. Our family has recently mourned the loss of a beloved member to this disease, and this journey is my way of honoring their memory. My hope is to bring awareness, raise funds, and make life just a little more manageable for others going through treatment. Together, with every step, weā€™re walking for hope, strength, and a future where cancer doesnā€™t take away our loved ones.
