This June, Odi and Lia are leading the way as we take on Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge.

When I was 7 years old, my mum, Julie, had the words "you have cancer" said to her, and it shook our lives. Although I was young, I still remember the incredible kindness and support our family received from those around us - nurses, friends, neighbours, complete strangers - and the positive difference that made.

2026 marks 20 years since Mum was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and 15 years since she received the news that she was officially cancer-free. This is due in large part to advances in research and the success of clinical trials, which helped make effective treatments available at the right time. We are forever grateful! 

I hope Mum's story offers some hope for others, and highlights the difference cancer research can make and the hope it brings to countless families. Now it's my turn to give back and say thank you, and I hope you'll join me.

Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85, so every step we take will help change that. With every wag, walkies and sniff stop, we're putting one paw in front of the other for a cause that matters.

Every kilometer we walk and every dollar we raise together will help fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs and essential support services for people impacted by cancer.
