Your Impact

Cancer Council is the largest non-government funder of cancer research in the country - and it's because of supporters like you.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have been able to invest almost $250 million in Australian cancer research in the past 5 years alone.

Where do donations go and what's the impact?

All proceeds from donations and fundraising for 58km Walk for Breast Cancer Walk Challenge go to Cancer Council, to to support the 1 in 7 women in Australia who will be diagnosed with breast cancer by the age of 85. By joining the challenge you’ll fund world-class breast cancer research, early detection, and treatment programs.

How donations help people impacted by cancer:

$50 → helps pay for innovative equipment and technology needed to develop life-saving cancer treatments

$120 → pays for the collection and processing of a blood sample that allows us to discover more about how cancer develops

$500 → could support a clinical trial to test new cancer treatments, ensuring the best treatments are available to those who need them most

ROSA – A roadmap for individualised breast screening

Investigating risk-based breast cancer screening in Australia

Personalised Breast Screening: A New Frontier in Breast Cancer Prevention

Thanks to groundbreaking research led by Associate Professor Carolyn Nickson, the Roadmap to Optimising Screening in Australia (ROSA) project is exploring how breast screening can be tailored to individual risk levels. By considering factors like age, family history, breast density, and even AI-driven imaging, ROSA aims to enhance early detection and improve outcomes for women across Australia. This innovative work, supported by Cancer Council Australia and BreastScreen Victoria, is paving the way for a smarter, more personalised approach to breast cancer screening.
