I’m taking on an epic challenge this October – and I need your support.

I’m participating in Cancer Council’s 58km Walk for Breast Cancer to support the 58 Australians who hear the words “you have breast cancer” every day.

The reason I signed up for this cause is deeply personal.

This year, I’m walking in memory of two of my greatest primary school teachers, my Year 3 and Year 4 teachers, who had a profound influence on me and whom I remember with so much gratitude and affection. Sadly, both lost their lives to breast cancer decades ago, at a time when treatment options were far more limited than they are today.

Last year, I participated because a close family member of mine bravely fought breast cancer and, thankfully, was cured. In addition, four of my friends were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2025, at different stages of the disease. I’ve witnessed the stress, pain and challenges they have faced throughout their journeys. Thankfully, they have survived, and their strength has continued to inspire me.

This 58km walk is dedicated to the memory of my two wonderful teachers, to everyone currently facing breast cancer, and to all those who have supported their loved ones through this difficult journey.

I’m walking to honour their memory, to show my support for those affected by breast cancer, and to help raise vital funds for Cancer Council’s work in prevention, support and research.
