Walking 50km with Benny this June to support Cancer Council and a cause close to my heart 💛🐾
This June, my beautiful dog Benny and I are taking on the Cancer Council’s 50km Dog Walk for Cancer challenge. Benny will probably be just as excited about his daily 2km walks as I am 🐾
I wanted to do this because cancer has affected so many people close to me. It has been a concern within my own family, I’ve watched my partner’s family go through the heartbreak of losing loved ones, and I’ve also watched one of my best friends experience the grief and sadness that cancer brings to a family. Seeing the impact it has on people you care about is something that stays with you forever. There’s always a missing piece left behind.
Supporting Cancer Council is also something that has been important to me since my school years. I attended Trinity Lutheran College on the Gold Coast and was House Captain for Strohmeyer, the yellow house. Every year we held Cancer Council fundraisers with games, events and pancake stalls, and in my year we raised close to $2,000 for the cause. Lauren was also involved in helping with the fundraiser back in 2020, so this challenge feels very meaningful for both of us.
As the General Manager of Hinterland Realty, I work with so many people in our community every day. You realise everyone has a story and many families are impacted by cancer in one way or another. This is just my small way of showing support and giving back to a cause that still means a lot to me.
For me personally, this challenge is also about setting a positive goal for my mental and physical health while doing something that helps others at the same time.
If you’re part of the Hinterland Realty family and would like to get involved too, you can join the challenge with our team, set your own personal goal or help spread awareness. It really is such a great initiative and an important cause.
Every walk, kilometre and donation helps fund cancer research, prevention programs and support services for Australians impacted by cancer.
If you can support Benny and I, we’d be so grateful 💛
In honour of Sue Secombe & Keith Cush, and all those impacted by cancer 💛
