I need your support.

This October, I’ve decided to set myself a challenge — I’m walking 58km to raise funds for breast cancer research and support. 🎀

Why 58km? Because every single day, 58 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer. That’s 58 people, and 58 families, suddenly finding themselves dealing with something none of them asked for.

This challenge has a little extra significance for me because 2026 marks 10 years since I beat breast cancer myself.

Ten years on, I’m one of the lucky ones — but over those years I’ve also seen far too many friends and family members receive their own cancer diagnoses and fight their own very individual battles. Cancer touches an extraordinary number of lives, and everyone’s experience of it is different.

So throughout October I’ll be pulling on my walking shoes and doing my bit, one kilometre at a time. 👟

For some people, 58km might not sound like an enormous distance, but it’s a genuine challenge for me. Knowing there’s a very good reason behind every kilometre should give me the extra motivation to keep going — particularly on the days when the couch looks considerably more appealing than the walking shoes! 😄

The money I raise will support Cancer Council’s cancer research, prevention programs and support services for people affected by cancer and their families.

I was fortunate enough to come out the other side of breast cancer 10 years ago. I’d like to mark that milestone by doing something that might, in some small way, help more people get the chance to say the same thing.

58km. 58 Australians diagnosed every day. 10 years cancer-free. One month to get it done. 🎀
