Walking for My Grandma—and for a Future Without Breast Cancer
This challenge means the world to me because I'm doing it in honour of my beautiful grandma, who’s been through so much. She’s my inspiration, and I want to make a difference for her and for the 58 Australians who hear the words “you have breast cancer” every single day. I’m raising funds to support life-changing cancer research, prevention programs, and support services through Cancer Council. Your donation will help people affected by cancer at every stage—from diagnosis to treatment and beyond. Cancer Council is Australia’s leading cancer charity, working across every type of cancer. They’re there for families when they need it most, and they’re fighting for a future where cancer doesn’t take the people we love. Together, we can get closer to a cancer-free future. Grandma: kind, caring, always there for you, helpful, puts you before others, never gives up even when things get hard, loving, doesn’t like answering questions about herself, thoughtful, great baking teacher, never shows her pain when others are around.
She’s the quiet strength behind so many of our happiest memories. Her love is steady, her wisdom is deep, and her resilience is something I admire every single day. Watching her face life’s challenges with grace reminds me why we fight so hard for the people we love.
That’s why I’m asking you to help. There are lives at stake — people like my grandma who deserve every chance to keep living, loving, and teaching us how to be better. Every donation counts. Wednesday 1st OctToday I went on a walk with my mum Kerry, my sister Stella, and our dog Maverick. As we walked, my heart was full thinking about someone incredibly special to us — our grandma. She means everything to us. She’s strong, loving, and full of spirit. Her smile lights up every room, and her strength inspires us every single day. We love her more than words can say. Right now, we’re walking this journey with her. We’re walking for her — and for everyone who is facing breast cancer. We believe in her, we’re with her every step of the way, and together, we’re going to beat it.
