My target 58kms

I’m taking on an epic challenge this October – and I need your support.

I’ll be walking 58km for the 58 Aussies diagnosed with breast cancer every day. And to help find the next breast cancer breakthrough.

Will you donate to support my challenge, and help me reach my fundraising goal?

You’ll fund world-class cancer research, prevention programs, and support services at Cancer Council, to support people affected by cancer before, during and after treatment.

Cancer Council is Australia’s leading cancer charity working across every aspect of every cancer. They support families affected by cancer when they need it most, speak out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empower people to reduce their cancer risk, and find new ways to better detect and treat cancer. With your help, we can get closer to a cancer free future.

It’s all of us against cancer.

Are you with me? Please donate to my fundraiser now.

Day 7- Hamelin bay to cape leeuwin, the final slog

My Updates

Day 7 - Hamelin Bay to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, Augusta

 Saturday 3rd Oct
We had hoped to start the walk in time to see the stingrays at Hamelin Bay but it wasn't to be. With our decorated tutus (each themed to our roles - the Navigator/ Medic, Entertainer and Wildlife Warrior) for the final stretch that had tested our craft skills, we got underway on the walk which started with plenty of sand to cross. From sand to navigating plenty of rocks and hills, we knew the final day walking 25kms wasn't going to be easy. I had foregone the stretching and coconut water regime that was most of my walk and instead tried the wine regime the night before and so with the addition of a sore head to add to the sore legs, blisters and belly an hour or two in I wasn’t sure I was going to make the distance. We enjoyed morning tea at the mini lighthouse. After continuing on to walk more sand (did I mention the SAND), we persevered and Bee even decided (maybe not so wisely) that she would also run a km of the beach stretch. In total we walked over 10kms of sand and so it was a hard slog but we rewarded ourselves with some lunch at our natural loungeroom (rock armchairs) The final stretch felt like walking on hot coals and there were many moments that it felt near impossible, especially with it being quite warm but we rallied to keep walking. Thankfully the last stretch took us through some cooler pathways and with our goal to make it to the gift shop at the lighthouse before closing, we had to pick up the pace to make it in time.....which we did! We are all so proud of ourselves and each other to have made it to the finish line! We are immensely tired and sore but after walking over 125kms of rugged and challenging terrain in pretty much 6 days it is to be expected.

A HUGE thanks to all of our supporters who have donated to our fundraising. We have smashed our goal and can proudly say we have raised over $2500 for Breast Cancer support and research💙

Day 6-contos to Hamelin bay

Saturday 3rd Oct

Day 6 - Contos to Hamelin Bay

Friday 2nd October
As we approached the last two days of the hike we were optimistic about nearing the finish line although we also knew that this involved some of the more challenging days of the hike. If the sore and tired feet and bodies wasn't already enough to make it tough to get up and going, Bee and I also had the addition of some stomach discomfort. Despite all the challenges, we persisted and set off on the 21+km walk. The weather was glorious and as we made our way from Contos, we got to enjoy the stunning Boranup forest with some inspirational signs along the way and some chats to other fellow hikers, before making our way to the beach to start the 6+kms of beach walking (definitely not my favourite sections). We made the most of the stunning weather with lunch at the beach before continuing on to Hamelin Bay. We enjoyed some tunes and the stunning scenary as we walked and bee  was still able to remind us all about many of lifes lessons in terms of overcoming challenges, persistence, gratitude and the importance of setting goals to 'achieve'. We regrouped over dinner though and will be back better then ever Saturday for the FINAL day of the walk.

Day 4 gracetown to prevelly

Thursday 1st Oct

Day 4 - Gracetown to Prevally

 Wednesday 30th Sep

We headed to the start line at kangaroo pace with a kangaroo jumping alongside us for a few km as both sides of the road were fenced. We were lucky to have some extra company today for our 'rest day'. It was a shorter and slightly easier walk, with us walking about 19kms through another beautiful part of our state. We lunched at Ellensbrook homestead before a few of the crew departed and we continued on to Prevally with the three teens. We saw our second and third snakes of the walk with the third one not being very happy when our forward scout nearly stepped on it. No bites thankfully, just a fright. With some slightly soggy shoes from the river crossing we finished in good time and feeling okay....ready for Day 5. As we say goodbye to all of our male supporters our other member of the Titty Committee will be joining us at the start line for the next three days💙🥾🐍

We are officially half way through the walk although having to redo some the other day and a few moments we realised we were slightly off track have meant a few extra km.

Day 5 prevelly to contos

Thursday 1st Oct

Day 5 - Prevally to Contos

 Thursday 1st Oct

We started the day with a few hiccups including a return journey back to base camp to pick up all of the items we had forgotten and one of the Titty Committee (won't mention which one) forgetting the Australian road rules. The male supporters departed today leaving just the three official Female members remaining.  With the Choir Leader joining the trek, we found some renewed energy after feeling a bit defeated yesterday when we realised we had only walked 61kms and still had 64kms to go...... With our new team hats to really set the tone, we set off from Prevally (River mouth) on our days walk. With the renewed energy we smashed the first 12 or so kms to Redgate beach for lunch. We sung, we danced, there were pranks and laughs (a lot which might have ended in a stand off with anyone refusing to take the lead) and we walked and walked to the 19 or so kms to the finish line at Contos. The Navigator/ Medic (aka Me) the Entertainer/ Garbo (aka Jo) and the Wildlife Warrior (due to yet another close snake encounter and the genius with the seaweed bridge)/ Socials Manager (aka bee), we all stepped up to the challenge and will be back tomorrow for a long day of walking. We have different recovery strategies- me with stretches and coconut water  and bee with wine and will see which one is most effective by the end of the week

Day 3 indijup to gracetown

Tuesday 29th Sep
7 hours walking,  23,5km today and 87 floors.
What a day! Started the day having to walk a large sand stretch and stairs again as access was restricted due to road works. Whales, kangaroos, lizards and amazing wildflowers all seen on the walk today. We clambered rocks. Jumped streams, trudged  through sand up never ending hills but we made it.

Day one and two!

Tuesday 29th Sep

Day 1 - Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse to Sugarloaf Rock

Sunday 27th Sep

After driving down to cape naturaliste in the afternoon after Damon’s grand final we got the cape to cape trek underway with a small taster. It was a beautiful 3.5km walk on a sealed track with glorious weather. May have lulled us in to a false sense of security 👣

Day 2 - Sugarloaf Rock to Injidup

 Monday 28th Sep

We came, we saw, we conquered.....the trek from Sugar Loaf Rock to Injidup. We were spoilt with some amazing scenery along the coast and the weather wasn't too bad for most of the day....until it wasn't so great ( walking into the wind through soft sand is tough). Our bodies are telling us it was a big day of walking....after Kms of walking on beach sand, too many close wildlife encounters (yes....there appears to be some slithery friends around), climbing stairs and more stairs, we have blisters, soreness and were glad to be chilling ready for Day 3.

A big thanks to all of our very generous supporters who have donated to this very worthwhile cause
