I am doing this in honour of my dear friend Ruby Stead, I knew Ruby from primary school, high school and our adult lives. Ruby was a year older that me, but her first child and my last child were due around the same time, but her little boy Sonny decided to come very early, we spent so much time chatting while she was in the NICU with her brave son and I was still counting down the weeks til the birth of my baby girl!
What came next was devastating, Ruby was diagnosed with Melanoma, she faught so hard for quiet some time, then a few years ago she lost her battle on her birthday!
I myself have had a few brushes with cancer, when I was 19 I was the youngest person in Australia to have a Basal Cell Carcinoma, now my record is held by a 6 year old child!
I hope you will all join me in this fundraiser as this type of cancer should not even exist anymore, we all know about sun protection but people rarely follow the guidelines,
