My Babu
Hi family, friends & visitors to this page,
The handsome man in the photo is Babu, my husband of 40 years. He swept me off my feet at a New Years Eve’s dance party. 3 years after we married, we immigrated to this lovely country to enjoy all it has to offer.
His first love is me!!! His other loves, in no particular order, are music, good food, cooking, beer, wine, scotch and brandy.
Babu excels at everything he does. In his education. During his 2.5 years National Service. Mechanical engineering. As a manager of large automotive company & as a keen musician, playing both the drums and guitar.
In 2016 Babu retired and we both took up ‘professional cruising.’ It’s on the ocean where we are most content.
We have shared the most special life, fortunate enough to travel around the world many times over. We have the most wonderful family and friends, who live near & far. From Singapore, to India, to North America, to Australia and most recently to an over 50’s ‘Life-style’ village!! All of whom have enriched our lives.
In May 2026, only weeks after our last cruise, Babu was diagnosed with a rare & aggressive form of cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. This cancer most frequently occurs in the uterus, abdomen, or in Babu’s case, in the deep soft tissues of the body.
Here are some statistics about Cancer in Australia in 2025 (canceraustralia.gov.au) –
· 169,759 Australians were diagnosed with Cancer
· 2,626 Australians were diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma
· Only 500 to 550 of those Australians were specifically diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma
· These numbers represent roughly 0.3% of all new cancer diagnoses
On 29 July 2026, Babu passed peacefully at Gosford Hospital. He asks that in lieu of flowers, those that wish to, please donate through this page to the Cancer Council.
BABU’S WISH FOR THE FUTURE
Babu’s wish for the future is that the Doctors and Professor’s charged with finding a cure of this incessant disease are able to do so. This can only be done through funding. Government funding and fundraising through the community. Organisation such as this, the Cancer Council give Babu a way of reaching out to family, friends and visitors through his page. To educate and ask you to dig deep into your pockets and donate your hard-earned money to the Cancer Council.
WHAT YOUR MONEY GOES TO
The Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship (ARCCS) was created through a landmark $40million collaboration between Cancer Council NSW and the UNSW Sydney
Every year, the Cancer Council donates about $6million to ongoing Cancer research.
