I'm doing it for cancer!

It has been a year since we lost dad to cancer. To remember him and honour his desire to make a difference, I’m challenging myself to get again active to support people impacted by cancer and raise awareness of the financial cost of a cancer diagnosis. 

1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, so I’m putting my body to the test to raise funds and show my support for people undergoing treatment.  

Please sponsor me to support, impactful prevention programs, life-saving cancer research and vital support services for Australians living with cancer.

Proposed route for 2026!

Tuesday 6th Oct
The proposed route for the walk this year. 

Aiming for the 100km. 
First goal, pass the 83.35km from last year,
Second goal, hit 92.5km to 'Do It For Dolly',
Third goal, hit the 100kms.

The financial cost of a cancer diagnosis

Friday 2nd Oct
This year I am walking to highlight, and raise funds for, the financial cost of a cancer diagnosis for people in Australia. The McCabe Centre and Cancer Council Victoria, and the Leukaemia Foundation have recently release reports into the cost of a cancer diagnosis and ways these costs can be addressed. 

From paying for transport to appointments, car parking fees, out of pocket costs for medical appointments and life-saving medicines, and potential losses of income, these pressures impact an individuals wellbeing and access to treatment.
