Perth to Sydney Ride for Cancer Awareness

My name is Dallas. I am 68 years old, a carpenter and builder by trade, a husband, a father of three sons, and a four-time Ironman finisher.

In November 2025, I underwent surgery for prostate cancer. Since then, I have received two clear follow-up test results and have been fortunate enough to regain my health and return to cycling.

To celebrate that second chance, I am preparing to ride from Perth to Sydney with the support of my wife and a registered nurse who is more family than friend. Together, we will travel across Australia in a support van that will serve as our home on wheels.

This ride is not just about prostate cancer. It is about gratitude for the researchers, doctors, nurses and health professionals whose work saves lives every day. It is about raising awareness of all cancers, encouraging people to take an active role in their health, and supporting the research that continues to improve outcomes for Australian families.

I am not attempting this ride to prove that I am extraordinary. I am simply determined to see what is possible when experience, preparation, family support and good health come together.

Like many Australians, I believe in looking after yourself, eating real food, staying active, helping others where you can and leading by example. If this journey inspires even a few people to value their health, support cancer research or pursue a challenge of their own, then every kilometre will be worthwhile.

This is not just my journey. It belongs to everyone who has faced cancer, supported a loved one through cancer, or benefited from the dedication of those working to improve health outcomes for all Australians.
