I’m doing it for cancer!
Hello family, friends & fundraising folk, this year I’m challenging myself to cut my hair to support Cancer Council in their mission for a cancer free future.
Alot of you may be aware for many years now I would hold an annual event to raise funds for cancer research, education & support. Unfortunately Covid & lockdowns put a stop to this, so I would like to do something special this year and give up something important to me to raise funds in honour of some of my beautiful friends who have unfortunately been affected by Cancer.
1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime which means i'm sure you all know someone who has been affected by cancer or experienced it personally. Because of this and in an effort to help, I have decided to cut my long locks (despite friends telling me it's too incredible to cut). For those who don't know, my hair has been growing from shoulder lenth for the past 10 years, and now goes halfway down my back. Because of it's length and thickness I often get asked if it's my real hair . I have been lucky with my hair, but not everyone gets that choice, so by letting go of a substantial amount of my hair, I hope to raise much needed funds and show my support for those affected by cancer.
My dear friend Mark Gardner, who just celebrated his epic career achievement of 50 years in the business will be the one in charge of the big chop. Once my hair is cut, I will be donating my hair to the wonderfully talented Ella Wigmakers who hand-make wigs for both adults and children, and partner with Kids with Cancer Foundation & Wigs 4 Kids.
