I’m doing it for cancer!
A few years ago, I decided to grow my hair out and then donate it for a wig. One of my best friends has Alopecia and taught me not only about the ways wigs are helpful for hair loss - but how often they must be changed.
So donating my hair seemed like a good thing to do.
The next logical step is fundraising.
And this year has been a really hard year. Three of the women I look up to most for life, faith, and parenting advice have faced cancer battles. While one of them is now in recovery, one is still undergoing surgery and unfortunately one of them passed in July.
As a school chaplain, my role also often involves supporting families, staff and students with their experiences of cancer. Like many groups, our school has been involved in fundraising for the cancer council with casual days, Biggest Morning teas, and Relay for Life.
So I'm shaving my hair, donating it and fundraising in the hope that less people have to experience cancer in the future - and to ensure that medical research, support for people experiencing cancer and prevention education has some of the financial support it needs to make an effective difference.
Please consider supporting me as I lose the curls again!
