WELCOME TO TASSIE DANCERS AGAINST CANCER
Wednesday 28th AprTassie Dancers Against Cancer was born after our Founder, Sharon Shirley, lost her mum to cancer, as well as a beautiful young dancer and a staff member, with all this loss and pain, raising money for Cancer just seemed like the right thing to do.
Like many who have been touched by cancer she was endeavouring to put those feeling of helplessness into something positive. There is the hope that fundraising efforts may make a difference to cancer patients and helps families going through this awful time in their lives.
Over the years Tassie Dancers Against Cancer has grown to encompass our annual ‘A Chance to Dance’ day and Showcase Gala evening event. These events are well supported by the Tasmanian dance community and bring together a wide range of dance styles and abilities giving everyone the opportunity to perform on stage and in front of an audience in a supportive and welcoming environment.
In 2020, we celebrated our biggest year yet. With the support of the Tasmanian Dance community we raised over $34,000 for cancer research. AMAZING! We look forward to working with Cancer Council Tasmania this year!
