I'm doing it for cancer!
I’ve seen what cancer really does — not just to one person, but to entire families, friend groups, and lives that get turned upside down in an instant. My mum was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and going through that showed me a side of life most people never see until it’s too late. The fear, the waiting, the treatments, the hope you try to hold onto even when everything feels uncertain.
But I also know my story isn’t unique. Cancer is happening to people every day — kids, parents, friends, partners — and behind every diagnosis there’s a whole world of people affected. The hospital visits, the bad news calls, the moments where everything just stops.
I’m running for the Cancer Council because I don’t want this to just be something people “go through” alone. I want more research, more support, and more hope for everyone fighting this battle.
Every kilometre I run is for the people currently in treatment, the ones who have survived, and the ones we’ve lost but will never forget. This is bigger than me — it’s for everyone impacted by cancer, in any way, shape, or form.
