Ronan’s Big Chop

By Jacqui McNamara

Six Years of Growth, One Very Special Cause

After six years of growing his hair, Ronan has decided it’s finally time for a big chop! But this isn’t just about getting a haircut. He is doing it for a cause that means a great deal to our family.

Ronan is cutting off his long locks to raise money for Cancer Council, in honour of his grandparents, who sadly both lost their lives to cancer – one to melanoma and the other to lung cancer.

Although he never had the opportunity to meet his grandparents, he knows how much they mean to our family. This is his way of honouring their memory while helping other families who are facing the challenges of cancer.

There is another special part to his challenge. He will also be donating his hair so it can be used to make wigs for people experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment. After six years of growing it, he hopes his hair can help bring a little confidence and happiness to someone going through a difficult time.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support Cancer Council’s important work in cancer research, prevention and support for people and families affected by cancer.

We are incredibly proud of him for taking on this challenge and turning something as simple as a haircut into an opportunity to help others.

THE BIG CHOP! ✂️ will happen in December! The exact date is still to be confirmed, but one thing is certain – there will be a lot of hair coming off for a very special cause!

If you are able to support him, we would be so grateful for any donation. Every little bit counts!

Thank you for helping him make a difference.
