Doing it for Aunty Nat
This year, I’m shaving my head for Me No Hair Day to raise money for Cancer Council.
Cancer has affected me personally because I lost my Aunty Nat to cancer. Aunty Nat was genuinely one of the best people I knew. She was really kind and happy, had a great sense of humour, and could somehow talk her way into (or out of) anything she wanted, just not cancer!
She was a great role model to me (although sometimes maybe not!) and someone I really looked up to.
When we lost Aunty Nat on 19 September 2025, I felt extremely sad. I hate knowing that people with cancer have to go through so much, and that their families and friends have to go through it with them. There is also the cost of treatment and everything families have to deal with while they are trying to save someone they love.
That’s why I want to raise as much money as I possibly can. I hope the money we raise can help make things a little easier and mean fewer families and friends have to suffer through what ours did.
I’ve been growing my hair for more than 18 months so I could take part in my school’s Me No Hair Day team when I reached Year 6. Now I’m finally in Year 6, the hair is ready to go!
It’s going to feel very strange seeing it all shaved off, but if having no hair for a while can help raise money for people affected by cancer, I think it’s absolutely worth it.
