I’m doing it for cancer!
Cancer wards taught me how much was outside my control. I could not ease the pain. I could not change the prognosis. I could not give Dad better news. I could not take the cancer away.
I did learn some things that were in my control. I could try to make moments a little better. I could be a procurer of icy poles, a collector of extra blankets, an advocate, a hand to hold, and infuse my love into our time together.
At this time, I decided to grow my hair so it could be used to make a wig for someone experiencing hair loss from cancer treatment. I hope this donation will make someone else's moments a little better.
It's been a few years in the growing, but the chop is upcoming and I hope you'll support me in fundraising for the Cancer Council to try and expand this 'sphere of control.' Let's support the research into treating cancer and making more moments better.
