Girls Night In SA ideas

Would you love to host a Girls’ Night In, but you’re worried about how to make it work? Maybe you’re unsure if your small event will make much of a difference? We’re here to tell you that every single Girl’s Night In, big or small, makes a difference. Find out why your event matters.

Did you know that almost five South Australian women are diagnosed with breast or gynaecological cancer every day, and, of those almost five women diagnosed every day, almost one will lose her life?

By hosting a Girls’ Night In you are raising vital funds to help those who need it most – the five South Australian women diagnosed with a gynaecological or breast cancer in South Australia every day.

Your Girls’ Night In event will also raise awareness of women’s cancers—even if it’s just within your social network—it makes a difference. When you get together with the girls, it’s a great time to start a conversation about cancer screening and prevention. If you need any conversation starters, we have the perfect resources here.

If you’re still unsure and looking for inspiration—here’s six irresistible ideas for your Girls’ Night In event!

  1. Like reading?

Host a book club and ask the girls to donate as an entry fee. Here are some classic book suggestions to read before the event and then discuss over your choice of hot beverage!

  • Little Women
  • The Help
  • Men Explain Things to Me
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • The Book Thief
  1. Schedule a little self-love.

We all need a little time out to take care of ourselves. Why not invite friends, family and colleagues over for a DIY PJ pamper party and donate what you would have spent at a salon. Try these fun and simple pamper ideas to do in front of the TV:

  • Manicure – Get your favourite nail polish colour and paint away!
  • Pedicure – Fill some tubs with some host soapy water and give your feet a relaxing soak.
  • Facial and face masks – Grab some face masks from the shop and hand them out—or get creative and make your own!
  • Practice make up techniques – Share your tips and knowledge on getting the right look.
  • Healthy Living – Share our women’s cancer prevention resources available here
  1. Get together for a game night with the girls.

Whether it’s a classic board game, bingo or a quiz with a twist, set up the table, prepare the snacks and ask everyone to donate to join or even make it fun by setting ‘fines’ over the night for things like ‘first person to roll snake eyes, pay $5’.

Our downloadable Trivia Quiz—available here—is fun and breaks the ice for starting a conversation about women’s cancer.

  1. If movies are more your thing, host a movie night.

Put the popcorn in the microwave and find a comfy spot to sit and get bingeing a marathon of movies. Raise funds by ‘selling’ tickets to your event. Here are some of our top movie choices:

  • Sex and the City
  • Pretty Woman
  • P.S. I Love You
  • Bridesmaids
  • 10 Things I Hate About You
  • Pitch Perfect
  • Mamma Mia!
  • The Devil Wears Prada
  • The Notebook
  • Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion
  1. Show off your cooking skills and have a dinner party at home with your girls.

If you're looking for ideas, why not try a themed night (did someone say Mexican and mocktails?), a banquet where everyone brings something to share, or if you’re feeling fancy, why not try a fabulous three course meal. Just ask your Girls’ Night In guests to donate the cost of a meal out or if you want to do something fun, let your guests donate what they think they should pay for the meal!

  1. Can't catch up in person?

Why not take your Girls’ Night In online and host virtually? Getting the girls together online is a great way to reconnect with friends in different states or countries while supporting women impacted by cancer. You can play games, catch up on all the gossip or even watch a movie together. Check out our awesome downloadable Zoom backgrounds for your event here.

As you can see, there are so many ways to host a Girls’ Night In event. And every single event makes a difference—big or small—because your support matters to us.

If you need inspiration or information for your Girls' Night In our Fundraising Team would love to take your call on  or you can sign up to host here.
