Walking 4 Health & Helen: Over 50 Tassie walks in under 50 days

Walking 4 Health & Helen: Supported by Viridian Advisory Burnie

Most adults know several who have been affected by cancer. Long term Viridian clients, Brian & Helen Stace, have been particularly affected. As well as having several relatives and friends die of cancer, Helen died in June 2023 after a 3½ year battle with ovarian cancer. Then, shortly after her death, Brian was diagnosed with cancer on a vocal cord, resulting in surgery and then radiotherapy (with an expected full “recovery”).

Both Brian and Helen were keen bushwalkers. Even during her cancer treatment, Helen continued walking and Brian is convinced that her relative fitness and continued exercise during treatment gave her better quality of life, and probably extended her life. In her memory Brian has created a Cancer Council Tasmania fundraising project

“Walking 4 Health & Helen: Over 50 Tassie Walks in under 50 Days”

All the walks are ones Helen has done, and most are ones she did after diagnosis. While the project is named in Helen’s memory, Brian wants to recognise all who have been touched by cancer.

The Tasmania Branch of Viridian has selected this project to support due to our longstanding professional connection and friendship with Brian & Helen. Each of our team members and so many of our clients, have been affected by cancer in some way, be that personally, via family or friend groups. Brian’s commitment to honouring Helen’s memory and significant effort in arranging this project whilst going through his own cancer journey is nothing short of admirable and has certainly touched our hearts.

We would like to ask you to consider a donation to this worthy charity should you be in a position to do so. The Viridian Foundation will match $ for $ all funds raised via client and employee donations up to a total of $700 so please make your donation via this page (via the bar on the right) so that we can track and match your donations.

Viridian Burnie will also be holding a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Burnie on Saturday April 6th to assist with fundraising, if you are in the area we would love if you could drop by and purchase a snag or two.
