I'm doing it for cancer!

Hi friends, my name is Chloe. I am a proud Exercise Physiologist (EP) and I've decided to do a marathon fundraiser in my area of interest which is oncology. I am passionate in working in the oncology field and helping those who have been diagnosed with cancer to live healthier lives. 

In 2024, about 169,500 people have been diagnosed with cancer in Australia. That is about 464 new cases each day. The journey for overcoming cancer is long and complex that extends far beyond the initial treatment. Cancer survivorship begins at diagnosis and can last a lifetime, as individuals may experience late side effects of treatment and ongoing physical and emotional challenges. 

As an EP, I see many patients in different stages of their cancer journey and one thing I've learned is the significance of having support and resources. This includes having funding for medical treatments, medical specialists, mental health support, and access to exercise professionals. 

It takes physical endurance, stamina and a strong mental mindset to overcome the harsh side-effects of cancer and treatments, this is why I chose to do a 42km marathon at the Brisbane Marathon on 7th June 2026. The funding that this fundraiser will raise will go to Cancer Council Queensland. Any donations as little or big will be gratefully accepted and appreciated.

Marathon for Cancer

Friday 12th Sep
I've decided to take on the challenge to participate in the 42km Gold Coast Marathon in July 2026 to fundraise for Cancer Council Queensland. 

Cancer affects many lives, and significantly impacts their quality of life and the people around them. The sad news is, there is no cure, only wonderful treatments and support. 

The money this fundraiser will raise will go to Cancer Council Queensland to assist in cancer prevention education, research, information/support and counselling for all those Australians affected with cancer. Any donation will will be gratefully accepted to help save lives.
