The Marryatville High School Year 12 class of 2026 and staff are challenging themselves to shave or cut their hair to support Cancer Council in their mission for a cancer free future.
Because 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, we're losing our locks to raise funds and show our support.

Why I'm cutting my hair
Tuesday 16th Jun
I will be cutting more than 20cm of my hair in honour of my Puppa Bob, who sadly passed away from brain cancer in 2023. The Cancer Council supports Australians at every stage of their cancer journey by funding vital research, delivering public prevention campaigns such as SunSmart, advocating for policy change, and providing practical and emotional support to those affected by cancer.
As one of the 2026 Tirntu House Captains, having the Cancer Council as our house charity is especially meaningful to me. This fundraiser gives me the opportunity to honour my Puppa's memory while supporting an organisation that makes a real difference in the lives of so many people and families.
In addition to cutting my hair, I will be donating it through the Cancer Council's partner, Sustainable Salons. My hair will be used to help create wigs for people experiencing medical hair loss, allowing me to support others facing difficult circumstances while contributing to a cause that is very close to my heart.
