One Breath, One Step

I’m doing it for cancer!

Hi, my name is Ruby. I’m 16 years old, and I want to make a difference.

When I was 11, my Nanna was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She fought hard, and she survived. But the impact of that time never left me.

Now, my great aunt is facing something even harder: terminal lung cancer. Watching her go through this with courage and grace has been heartbreaking. It’s not just about the illness. It’s about the people we love, the memories we still want to make, and the time that sometimes gets stolen too soon.

That’s why I’ve decided to take action.

For my Year 11 Activating, Identities and Futures assignment, I am raising money to support lung cancer research and awareness, to help people like my aunt, and the families who are holding on to hope every single day. No one should feel like they’re fighting alone. Every donation, every conversation, and every moment of support brings us one step closer to change.

I will be holding a sale in the St Martin's Lutheran Church Hall with items made for Lung Cancer awareness, baked goods and produce.

This isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s personal. It’s for my Nanna. It’s for my aunt. It’s for every person whose life has been touched by cancer.
