I’m doing it for cancer!
On the 18th October I will be travelling to the Indian Himalayas to embark on a 12-day challenge to raise money for cancer research. Organised by Charity Challenge UK, I will be joining a small group of 9 fundraisers including four British NHS nurses one of whom is my sister.
I will be stepping right out of my comfort zone and trekking distances of 20km a day through unique remote areas at an altitude of 2700 - 3000 metres and staying in tents and basic lodges - no Wi-Fi, no toilets! The trek begins and ends at the heart of the world's highest mountain range in Dharamsala where the Dalai Lama and the centre of the Tibetan community are located.
1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and I am sure many of you will know someone who has been affected by cancer. I lost my father to cancer at the age of 55 and his brother and sister also succumbed to the disease, so this is a cause very close to my heart.
This is a self-funded challenge and all the proceeds from my page will go directly to Cancer Council Queensland to support their mission for a cancer free future. You can make a direct donation on this page.
