Rhianna’s community fun run
Our story
Rhianna, a grade 6 student from South George Town Primary School in Tasmania, was inspired to take action after hearing that people in her school community had been diagnosed with cancer.
She decided to organise a 15km+ fun run and walk, turning her idea into a full community event with the help of her mum. Together, they planned the route, gained council approval and brought local businesses on board to support with donations.
The event started at Lagoon Beach in Low Head, with participants walking or running to South George Town Primary School and back, finishing with a BBQ fundraiser.
The whole community showed up to support, making it a day full of energy, connection and purpose.
Our top tips
Don’t be afraid to start small and ask for help. Getting your community involved, from friends and family to local businesses, can make a big difference.
