I’m doing it for cancer!

My name is Banjo, and I am here to spread awareness for cancer. I am doing this in honor of my Nan who has cancer and My Pa who died from cancer.

My Nan has cancer, and she has had chemotherapy, and I need all the help I can get. 

I want to donate money to the cancer council because when my nan had cancer she had to take lots of medication and she was really sick. 

She almost died. 

I hated seeing Nan like that so my fundraising plan is this :

During the month of March I will do something kind every day.

Sometimes it will be something big and sometimes something small.

If you donate money, then you can choose my good deed for that day.  

I don't want people with cancer to have to go through the same thing my nan did. 

Hopefully my small effort will help others in the future.

Today is the last day of my challenge!
Today I changed my Great Pops bed so he has fresh sheets for bed tonight.

Today I went to the fire station and thanked the fire fighters for taking care of people. I also took them morning tea.
They showed me around the station and I got to see their equipment, try on their fire fighting clothes and tried to lift the jaws of life. I really enjoyed the experience so I thank them so much .

Today I did a few kind things -
I held the gate to school open for a few students.
I talked to a little boy at school who looked lonely in the playground.
I congratulated my teammate on a great game of footy tonight.
I thanked our couch for volunteering his time for us.

Today I heard about a lovely little girl who has been battling cancer since she was a baby. With my sisters help I wrote her a letter and put together a little gift pack and put it in the post to her. I hope it makes her feel happy when she receives it.

Today I was unwell and I didn’t leave the house. So I made a special birthday card for my cousin for his first birthday .
I am excited for my newspaper interview tomorrow !

Today I sent messages to people I don’t really know wishing them kind things and telllng them the world is a better place with them in it.
Yesterday a friend I play sport with asked me all about my kindness challenge , he told me that someone he loved has had cancer and he said he thinks It is great that so many people have been supporting my fundraiser .

Today I made porridge for my Pop for his breakfasts this week and delivered it to him tonight so he could have it in the morning.
And I also found out that The Advocate is coming to do a story on my fundraiser next week.

Today I wrote a letter to someone who has cancer and is going through treatment. I hope I made their day a little better than yesterday.

Today I took some flowers and a card to one of my great Nanny Ulverstone’s best friends. I heard she has been having a difficult time . She wasn’t home so I left them at her front door. I hope it brightened her day ?

Today we went on an excursion to Tiagarra. There was a girl on the bus who was crying so I went over and sat next to her and told her some jokes to make her feel better. I think it worked.

Today I vacuumed and mopped my Grannan’s floors so she didnt have to do them.

Today I told my favourite player at Ulverstone footy club that he was playing a great game today and he gave me a high five and said thanks Banj!

Today I delivered a note to one of my neighbours telling them how nice their garden and house looks.
Thankyou to everyone who has donated so far, we are not even half way yet and have raised almost $2800 , I can’t believe it! I’m so happy!

Today I made morning tea and a card for the lovely staff at my school to thank them for always taking good care of me.

Today there were 3 boys from a local high school who played music for us today and they said they dream of becoming rockstars so i complimented them and told them they are really good and I hope their dreams come true.
Also there were really big thunderstorms at school today and they make me anxious so one of my best friends helped me by telling me jokes and played a card game to keep my mind off it. I am grateful that he was kind to me today.

Today I saw another student at school fall over and scrape her knee so I went over and helped her get up and found a teacher to help her.

Hooray day 10! Today was bin day so I walked around my neighbourhood asking people if they would like me to put their bins out. And I got some donations along the way.

Today we stopped at a cafe on the way home from Hobart and I paid for a coffee for the next person to order one. I hope it made their day.

Today I helped an old lady from Sydney with directions to the bus station because the poor lady was very upset and worried she wouldn't get her bus in time to get back to her cruise ship before it left.
Dad and I got on Google to help her with the map she had.

Today I made 2 packs out of my spare pokemon cards and gave them to a little friend of mine and his little brother who has just started collecting them. They were very happy.

Today I couldn’t show you an actual photo of my good deed for today. I held the gate open at school for lots of people at the end of the school day so that they could get though quicker, especially the people on bikes.

I was still home from school sick today, so I spent some time doing a kindness jar for a special person who has been really sick. I will give it to them when I am feeling better.
I have reached my new target of $2000 I can’t believe it!

I woke up sick today so I didn’t leave the house. My good deed today was to check in with a friend who I haven’t seen in a long time. He was pleased to hear from me. I also offered to help mum with the washing up and feeding the chooks.

I wrote a nice review on the Facebook page of my favourite place to shop at.

Day 3 - picking up trash from the park

Monday 3rd Mar
I spent an hour after school at the park picking up rubbish with my mum. I was really surprised how much rubbish there was. 
I want to thank everyone who has donated so far, it is very exciting to see the money go in and to know I am doing something to help.

I thought of you yesterday in the supermarket when an elderly lady couldn’t reach the shelf in the refrigerated section - my good deed was to help her out and grab her some sour cream! You’re not only helping with raising funds and awareness for those with cancer (and their families/friends/communities) but you’re putting a smile on peoples faces with good deeds, and spreading the love. You’re an example of how a little goes a long way, and we should all be that little bit kinder. I bet your family - particularly those with and/or lost to cancer are very proud of you.
