Garden Tea Party and My Very Belated Big Birthday in November

I’m doing it for cancer! Garden Tea Party and My Very Belated Big Birthday in November

This has been a very different year for me, of many challenges, and lessons, but also many blessings in between. If this last year has taught me anything, I would say that it's so important to celebrate every achievement and positive moment, no matter how small it might seem. Find and create your own happiness and art of living.

This year, I have been on a spinal, lung health,  loss of mobility and living with chronic pain and exhaustion journey, and absolutely not a cancer journey in any form (and counting my blessings for that). Cancer Council SA is an organisation close to my heart so, despite my current limitations, I still always want to do whatever I can manage to help out.

I made it through a long hospital stay (from the 1st of April through to May 15th) with not one but two spinal surgeries, a serious lung condition diagnosis and some new red wheels in the form of a wheelchair. Not quite the wheels I imagined I might be getting around in for my big birthday this year. Needless to say, I was still in recovery and wasn't up to having a big celebration when my big day came around. I decided to go out for crêpes for a quiet brunch. It was all I could really manage on my actual birthday, and I was honestly just happy to be alive and to enjoy being there.

More recently, on November 5th this year, 12 months after my serious spinal issues started, I made it through a full day hospital stay and procedure, of injections under sedation,  to hopefully reduce some of my pain. While still recovering, I found myself reflecting on my past year, and I feel like now is the time I want to celebrate being alive and making it through so incredibly much.

Please join me for a Garden Tea Party on Saturday, November 22nd. It's going to be an afternoon of chill festive vibes in my garden. A fusion of some of my favourite things. Sunshine, music, pretty teacups, flower crowns, and the company of beautiful friends and family.

Dress up and wear that cute dress, shoes or accessory you’re saving for a special occasion. Wear a flower crown or flower in your hair. Have fun with your choices. I promise I will be wearing a flower crown too.

There will be a little champagne on arrival. I haven’t felt like drinking any alcohol at all with all the pain meds I’m on but it just wouldn’t be my birthday with a few bubbles.

There will mostly be endless cups of tea (I have a wide selection) and freshly brewed coffee.

To make up for not celebrating my birthday in May, and not having a birthday cake over several years, I'm hoping to do it right this time with something special and epically delicious, from my absolute favourite French patisserie, to share with you. Please also feel welcome to bring something to share but it’s not expected.

If you would like to come along, direct message me your name and name/s of any “plus ones” attending and any special dietary needs (for catering purposes), via mobile 0418143328 and I will send you the address.

It’s not obligatory to make a donation but it would be greatly appreciated. If you make a donation of $5- or more, via this page or on the day for me to deposit to this page later, you will also be given tickets for a raffle. Additional tickets can be purchased for a gold coin donation, again via this page or for me to deposit to this page later.

I’m hosting this event to support Cancer Council in their mission for a cancer free future. Because 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, I’m also bringing everyone together to raise funds and show my support.

For everyone in our past, present and future going through a cancer journey. I hope that even a little awareness and funds raised will help make a difference.

Please sponsor my event on this page to support cancer research and provide vital services for Australians living with cancer.

Thank you for your kind donation. Every little bit helps. Together, we can free the future from cancer.

Thank you to my Supporters
